The Sam Houston Chapter will host the 2018 Mid-America Region Reunion aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line ship, Liberty of the Seas. The ship was built in 2007 and refurbished in 2016 so the ship should be in excellent condition. The Liberty of the Seas leaves from Galveston, Texas on February 18th (Sunday) and returns to Galveston on February 25, 2018. This 7-day cruise will visit 4 ports including Galveston, TX; Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; and Falmouth, Jamaica.  It will allow all participants to meet and visit with other NARPI members, spouses and others for 7 days. The cruise starts on board with a meet and greet in a private conference room after the mandatory safety drill on the first day.  All NARPI members can meet for dinner at 8pm, or members may choose to dine separately. Earlier dining times will probably be available, but not offered at the time of planning. A banquet room, with meal, for the reunion meeting will be provided near the end of the cruise. A part of one of the lounges aboard the ship can be designated for place and time to serve as a hospitality room. Individuals will be able to purchase beverages of their liking. All meals are included in the cruise price. Nightly, professionally produced entertainment and broadway shows are included in the cruise price. Many daytime classes and activities are scheduled aboard ship and most of these classes is included in the cruise price. This ship has many very nice features, including casino and water activities, to enjoy and may be reviewed at the ship's website. Many shore excursions are available at each port and are available at an additional cost at the ships website www.royalcaribbean.com.  Also, shore excursions may be planned and purchased in advance or while aboard ship. There is also shopping and other activities available ashore near the ship's pier in each port.

COST for this 7-day reunion at sea depends on the accommodations you choose. We have reserved a block of rooms comprised of Interior cabins and Balcony cabins. The majority are Interior cabins. Different Interior Cabins are available at either $703.77 per person for a category L interior or a Promenade View interior. Balcony Cabins are available at $1143.77 per person. Prices for cabins are based on double occupancy. This price includes all fees and taxes. A single traveler will pay for a cabin of two less $95 taxes. Each cabin will receive an onboard credit of $50.00. These prices are a guaranteed group rate through July 4th. Other cabins, such as Ocean View and Suites, are available but are at regular cruise rates.

The room block has expired BUT rooms are still available. Suites/Jr Suites are sold-out but there may be cancellations.  Balcony rooms are available with a larger on-board credit. Interior rooms are also available, again with a larger on-board credit.  We have learned that pricing varies depending on market conditions and the room location.

After making your reservation it pays to monitor for bonuses like on-board credits. If they are offering "specials" they will change your reservation to include the "special" but you have to ask them for it.  Specials are often for a limited time so monitor them frequently.

Reservations may be made by calling 800-465-3595 and selecting option 4 to get a reservation agent for the group. The Group Name is NARPI REUNION CRUISE and the Group Number is 5308624. A deposit of $250 each person for a total of $500 is required for each reservation. Final payment is due by November 20, 2017. There are cancellation fees after November 20th.

Reserving rooms and pricing are time sensitive. The number of rooms available and pricing may change after July 4th. The rooms that are put on hold are taken out of the cruise line inventory and are not sold to other travelers during the hold period. But, at the end of that time the unsold rooms are put back into inventory to be sold to the traveling public.

Airport to Galveston (day of cruise) round trip bus transportation is available through the cruise line and may be reserved at the time you make your cabin reservations or at a later time.

For those arriving a day early, we are working on obtaining a room rate at a Galveston hotel. Transportation from the airport to a hotel for those arriving early is being researched. Transportation from the hotel to the ship will be provided by the hotel. This early arrival information will be provided to attendees at a later date.

For those driving, there are numerous cruise parking lots close by with various pricing. The parking lots provide shuttle buses to ferry passengers to the ship boarding area. A city operated Port of Galveston parking lot charges $10 per day and offers a $5 discount for making an online reservation. The link to their website is www.portgalvestonparking.com. Other parking may be researched by doing an internet search of "cruise parking Galveston, Texas".

There is a $35 registration fee for the conference. A registration form is attached that needs to be completed and mailed.

All attendees will need a current US Passport.

Want to share a room? It has come to our attention there are some individuals who desire to go on the cruise, but need someone to share a cabin with. You may contact Dick Carlson at richardcarlson1660@sbcglobal.net with your stated desire to share a cabin. He will share the list with others so they can try to determine a person to share a cabin with.
