Lee Schmidt HARLINGEN, TX.-

Another of the greatest generation has passed. C. Lee Schmidt, died December 25, 2011 in Harlingen at the age of 92.

He was born in Martin, North Dakota in 1919. He served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific. He was the postmaster in Rockford, Iowa, and a postal inspector in Harlingen from 1957 to 1978. He retired to Canyon Lake, Texas in 1979.

He is preceded in death by his grandson, Jeff Rogers.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marian, his daughters, Lyn Rogers and Dea Jae Shore (David), his grandchildren, Charles Rogers (Pacita), Lisa Salazar (Kenny) and Brendon Spear (Brandi) and 5 great-grandchildren, Christian, Kastine and Callie Salazar, and Brenna and Bryce Spear.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home 1702 E. Harrison, Harlingen, Texas 78550.

Retired Inspector Schmidt was a NARPI member. He and his wife Marian served in the Fort Worth Division.
