Joe Booker PhotoSpacer Joe Booker, 67, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2011.

Joe was born on September 19, 1944 in Mount Airy, NC a son of the late Phillip E. and Vera E. Booker of Greensboro, NC. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jackie Booker of Charlotte, and daughters, Allison Booker of Charlotte and Kimberly Booker of Wrightsville Beach, NC; brothers Phillip E. Booker of Martinsville, VA and Richard A. Booker of Eastern Shore, NC.

Joe was a loving husband and father, and will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, generosity and dedication to his family, friends and career.

After graduation from E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, VA and the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, Joe followed in the footsteps of his father joining the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. After 33 years of dedicated service as an Inspector, Joe retired in April 2000. After retirement, Joe joined the staff at Carmel CC golf shop and recently celebrated his 10th anniversary. Joe loved caring for his wife and girls, and had a passion for golf, music, reading, and keeping a perfectly manicured lawn.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening, December 26, 2011 at Harry and Bryant Company, 500 Providence Rd., Charlotte.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27th at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, with the Reverend Frank O'Rourke, Celebrant. The family will greet friends from 10:15 until 11:45 a.m. at the church prior to Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to National Kidney Foundation www.kidney.org/support or to Carolina Breast Friends of Charlotte www.carolinasbreastfriends.org/contribute in memory of Joe Booker.
